About the Event

Join us on Thursday, March 26, for a Soaring Together webinar with Cheri Torres MBA'75.

Conversations Worth Having: Women Leading Change
Everything we do and all change begins with conversation. Those conversations shape engagement and what happens next.

In this workshop, you will learn two simple, powerful communication practices that allow you to turn any conversation — anytime, any situation — into one worth having.

You will also learn a practical self-awareness technique that helps you become more intentional in how you communicate, even in challenging moments. Together these tools will help you:

  • Speak up effectively when you’re being talked over or ignored
  • Balance leadership and relationship
  • Make care and connection a shared leadership responsibility
  • Set healthy boundaries
  • Navigate power dynamics
  • Foster engagement and productivity
  • Break through imposter syndrome

This a highly practical, interactive workshop. During the workshop, you will learn the CWH Framework, then immediately apply the tools on real-life situations and challenges you face. You will leave with clear, practical tools you can use in your next conversation.

Guest Speaker

Cheri Torres, Ph.D., co-founder and executive officer for CWH Institute Inc, helps individuals, teams, and entire systems unlock their potential to flourish. With decades of experience in education, healthcare, and business, Torres specializes in leadership and team development, whole-system strategic planning, and culture change using Appreciative Inquiry — one of the most widely adopted approaches for positive change.

Torres equips leaders and teams with simple self-awareness, self-management, and communication tools that allow them to build trust, foster meaningful engagement, spark innovation, and create collaborative cultures. Her work empowers people to shift from transactional to transformational relationships — cultivating workplaces where creativity and collective intelligence emerge.

A lifelong learner, Torres holds a Ph.D. in collaborative learning and educational psychology, an MBA (Lehigh University), a master’s in transpersonal psychology, and Level II certifications in both the Barrett Values Cultural Assessment and Spiral Dynamics Integral.

One of the ways she clarifies and evolves her thinking is by writing. This has resulted in numerous books and articles. She believes the simplest and most valuable of anything she’s written thus far is Conversations Worth Having. It is the “simple on the other side of complex” when it comes to communication, and it is a bridge for leaders to move from a transactional, hierarchical worldview to a collaborative, regenerative paradigm that inspires collective capacity and whole system flourishing. Her thought leadership has been featured in Fast Company, Forbes, Strategy + People, HR Magazine, SmartBrief, Training Industry, and Training Magazine.

Torres loves living in the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina, with her husband, Michael, and dog, Annabel. She thrives on learning and evolving her capacity to contribute to a world that works for everyone. Travel, nature, reading, hiking, music, good food, family, and friends continuously renew her spirit.
